Welcome Dr. Lucas

Glove Cities Veterinary Hospital is very excited to announce the newest addition to our team of amazing veterinarians, Dr. Lucas! ?

Here is a little bit about him:

“Growing up in Upstate New York, my free time was filled with horseback riding, sports, and playing with the family’s and neighbor’s pets. As I worked my way through high school, this transitioned to dairy farm work, teaching horseback riding lessons, and still playing with the family’s and neighbor’s pets. It was on the dairy farm that I first really paid attention to a veterinarian, who had been called in to perform an embryo transfer on everyone’s favorite cow. The veterinarian invited me to see the embryo delicately sitting in the petri dish, and from the moment I saw it, I knew that I was hooked for life.

My college years were spent at SUNY Cobleskill followed by Cornell University, where I completed my undergraduate work in Animal Science. I then continued at Cornell University’s Veterinary College. Following graduation, I followed my initial career plan of being a large animal ambulatory veterinarian in central Pennsylvania before moving back to Upstate New York for a similar job. After 4 years of ambulatory practice, and with a well-timed job opening at a high-quality practice, I decided to shift my career focus to companion animals and high-quality general practice work. I am looking forward to working with all of my patients, both big and small, with a strong emphasis on Fear Free interaction so that both our patients and their owners feel more comfortable every time they visit the clinic.

At home, my family includes my lovely wife-to-be Natasja, our dogs Moose, Griffin, and Niffler, a slowly growing backyard chicken flock, and a rapidly expanding veggie garden. We’re looking forward to continuing to grow our family and explore all that this region has to offer.”

Stay tuned, we will be sharing more about Dr. Lucas in the coming weeks.
