DR. SUSIE VERRA
Growing up, I was fortunate enough to have a father who is a veterinary specialist. In elementary school, I specifically remember hoping that my dad would be called in for emergencies over the weekend so that I could come in and watch. I was always fascinated by all of the complex equipment and how these tools could be used to save the lives of animals. At the ripe age of twelve, I started to shadow a local veterinarian in the Lake George area and ended up working at that clinic until I was twenty-four.
One of my favorite aspects about working in a singular clinic for so long was learning about the positive impact pets had on their family members. When working in the clinic, I truly aim to do what I can to foster the human-animal-bond that people share with their furry loved ones. At the end of the day, I want to ensure that I am making treatment plans that not only benefit my patients, but are also achievable by their human counterparts. Ultimately, my goal is to always recommend the best possible care for my patients so that they can live long happy lives surrounded by the people that love them.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Clarkson University, I then moved out to the great midwest where I attended University of Minnesota – College of Veterinary Medicine. Starting from my junior year at Clarkson and through veterinary school, my Siamese mixed cat Kanga was there for everything. I often refer to Kanga as my “co-pilot” because of how great she is with traveling. It takes a special kitty to calmly go on 1200 mile road trips and multiple plane rides, she truly is my closest companion.
On my time off, I can be found enjoying the great outdoors! My favorite activities include downhill skiing, hiking, camping, kayaking and exploring the Adirondacks.
